Thursday 13- I did my stretches and yoga, and lifted weights.
Today’s Weather was: Temps of around 40 to 63 degrees, winds at NNW 3 to 9 MPH, humidity around 27 percent, mostly sunny skies.
According to the National Weather Service: “Friday: Sunny, with a high near 65. North northwest wind around 9 mph. Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 41. Northwest wind between 7 and 9 mph.”
Kelly arrived at 12:20 to pick me up and go to see her doctor down in Palm Desert. While I was in the waiting room waiting I read a chapter of “Without Remorse” by Tom Clancy and yakked with some folks who were also waiting; I guess we are should be called waiters, those who wait on their friends in the waiting room. I ate a cheeseburger and had coffee and cookies. Kelly ate two hamburgers and a chicken sandwich; she must have been mighty hungry. We didn’t leave there until around 4pm.
On the way back we stopped by a Flying J gas station because I told Kelly I’ve never been to one before and also to pick up some transmission fluid. The Flying J has about anything you may need or think ya need!
On the uphill grade of Hwy 62 about six miles from Yucca Valley Kelly’s car, Chrisandra (she names her cars too), overheated and stopped running. Lots of steam came out as I lifted up the hood and we had to let it cool down some before I could even attempt to crack the cap. Fortunately Kelly had a gallon of water and we put that in but we still had to wait for a long spell before the car would start again. I believe there wasn’t that much water in the radiator and what was in there boiled off. Kelly said that the mechanic must have forgotten to fill it the last time she had it serviced. After an hour or more being stuck on the side of the hill we finally got Chrisandra started and drove to WalMart to get some antifreeze and let Chrisandra cool off for a spell while we went shopping. I bought my new mountain bike there! We bought chicken at Staters and talked to our friend Charlene who works there. Kelly and Charlene are going to plan a “girl’s night out” at a bar Charlene knows about.
Got to my house about 10pm and both of us were kinda burned out. We ate the chicken and drank coffee while doing a little stargazing. Kelly went home around 11:30pm. I’m dang tuckered out!
I practiced my guitar, wrote to my journal, posted it to the web, and called it a night.
