Monday 18 through Saturday 23- well this is going to be the shortest week blog I think I’ve ever written. I have been sick all week with a really bad flu and didn’t feel like doing anything except sleep, cough, blow my nose, and watch a bunch of episodes of “Numb3rs”, “Castle”, “Elementary”, and a few really bad sci fi movies.
I did watch the original Godzilla with Raymond Burr. The part at the beginning of the movie when Godzilla walked from the ocean depths with his thunderous footsteps and onto the island scaring the bejesus out of the islanders and me when I was a little kid; it actually was the better of the scifi movies I watched.
I really didn’t feel like doing anything creative because of a continuous headache; I even stayed off FaceBook for a spell, or if I did go on I wouldn’t have any witty comments to offer.

I think it was Monday when I made a quick look-see outside that I startled a dove that was in my side porch. I would have thought nothing of this except that the dove fell to the ground about 50 feet away doing this “wounded bird routine” that doves do to draw predators away from their nests. I looked around, and sure enough there was a nest with one egg in it. They usually lay three eggs, so I checked the next day and there was one more and hasn’t been anymore. So it looks like we’ll have two baby doves in a few weeks.

My neighbor Linda Harter came by to check up on me and dropped off some zinc lozenges, a bunch of strawberries (that I couldn’t taste), herb tea bags, and a sci fi book. I thought that was mighty nice of her. I would have gave her a hug but I had her leave everything in my mailbox outside on the road; I don’t receive mail there but it good for drop offs like this and UPS.
I think it was Wednesday morning I woke up and found that my fever has broke and I may be on the mend from this really bad flu. I could stand up for short spells without getting dizzy and my sense of taste was coming slowly back. I thanked my friends on FaceBook who've been checking up on me, especially Hector Barrios... it can be kinda scary when yer sick livin' out in the middle of nowhere if ya know what I mean.

Thursday I still felt sick but not as bad as before. I did my stretches and yoga, but mostly stayed inside messing with my computers loading up new Linux OS like Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Opensuse and such trying to get my mind going again.
Friday I did my stretches, yoga, and light exercises. I still felt the flu but it has lessened its hold over me. I decided to take a quick ride to my mailbox on Lear 3 miles away, but the dang scooter took over ten minutes to start. It has been acting up lately like it has done before when the fuel pump died. I just don’t trust the scooter anymore.
I updated the Copper Mountain Mesa Website and sent out the Newsletter.
Saturday feeling much better, I did my stretches, lifted weights, yoga, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for 2 minutes. All these exercises were cut in half and done lightly.
I went to start the scooter to go to my mailbox on Border 6 miles away, but the damn thing wouldn’t start. So I fired up the Harley and drove that down there and back. I parked it and turned it off and I heard this click noise every 7 seconds... what the hell is that? I took the seat off to get to the electrical and found that it came from a tiny box. I disconnected the the electric plug to it and reconnected it and it started to smoke. Well I ain’t going to work on this right now until I give it some thought. I did go inside and called the Honda dealer about the Honda Scooter that seems to be a lemon and told him as much. This will make it the third time with the same problem and it only has 750 miles on it. He told me he will talk it over with his crew and come up with something, maybe even another bike.
Now I have no transportation of my own to get to town. I do have the truck, but it isn’t licenced. Two bikes and a car and all of them down; it’s like someone don’t want me out on the road.
