Thursday 26- I did my stretches, ran two miles, and lifted weights,
Today’s Weather was: Temps of around 82 to 105 degrees, SW winds at 16 MPH, humidity around 39 percent, cumulonimbus clouds but no rain for us.
According to the National Weather Service: “Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 102. Calm wind becoming south southwest between 8 and 11 mph. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph. Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 72. West southwest wind 17 to 20 mph decreasing to between 8 and 11 mph. Winds could gust as high as 29 mph.
I did my studies: Latin and pre-algebra. The Latin is slow going but I am learning a few words. Interesting that in Latin you can have a sentence with words in no specific order: Sum nauta or nauta sum= I am a sailor. Sum meaning I am. And then there’s the word et that means “and” or if used twice means “both…and” Like: Sum et nauta et Agricola= I am both a sailor and a farmer. I got a long way to go on this Latin stuff :)
I read aloud from the textbook “Astronomy Today” about Interplanetary Debris: asteroid belt, Kuiper belt objects, comets, Oort cloud.
I went for my evening walk listening to Alex Filippenko lecture 8 “Lunar Phases and Glorious Eclipses”.
I finally finished “Lightpaths” by Howard Hendrix. A hard book to read, lots of interesting ideas to absorb, but well worth the time!
I sat outside for a spell looking at the Moon and Jupiter.
I did my stretches, practiced my guitar, wrote to my journal, posted it to the web, and called it a night.
